PNL, USR, and PMP Councillors from the Main City Hall of Bucharest met to discuss the blocked budget of the Capital, which has not been voted upon. The three parties have analyzed the budget projects and concluded that there is a possibility to redistribute funds worth over 700 million lei for the city's priorities: hot water and heating, as well as public transportation, according to PNL Bucharest.
Together with mayor Nicușor Dan, PNL, USR, and PMP have expressed their commitment to identify solutions by Monday to allocate the necessary sums for public services, up to 1 billion lei. "Partidul Național Liberal București has made an appeal on Wednesday to all political groups in the General Council of Bucharest, inviting them to a constructive dialogue to carefully examine the city's budget. Representatives from USR and PMP accepted the invitation. During the meetings, a thorough analysis of the budget was conducted, line by line, project by project. This detailed evaluation showed that there is a possibility to redistribute funds worth over 700 million lei for the essential priorities of the Capital: hot water and heating, as well as public transportation. Bucharest's Mayor, Nicușor Dan, together with the USR and PMP council groups, have expressed their commitment to identify solutions by Monday to supplement the needed sums for public services, up to 1 billion lei," said Sebastian Burduja, president of PNL Bucharest.
"It is essential to put aside our political divergences and focus on the real needs of the people of Bucharest. Today's dialogue highlights our commitment to identifying resources to improve heating and public transportation services. Our priority remains the well-being of Bucharest residents and we are determined to work towards unblocking the situation and providing better conditions for all citizens of the capital. We will continue to actively involve ourselves in finding solutions for the people of Bucharest," stated a press release from PNL Bucharest.
General Mayor Nicușor Dan accused Sebastian Burduja, leader of PNL Bucharest, of not voting for the Capital's budget project due to this year's elections. "I believe this blockage is influenced by the pre-election period, the same budget was proposed in 2023 and was voted upon in 2022. I don't see what the difference is," stated Nicușor Dan in an interview with Digi24. Burduja disagrees and asserts that there is no real dialogue with the Mayor of Bucharest.
